It’s PSL season — and while we all love the cozy, spiced flavour of a Pumpkin Spice Latte, it’s worth knowing how much sugar is actually inside your cup.
How Much Sugar Is in a PSL?
Depending on your size and milk choice, your PSL could contain:
What’s the Recommended Limit?
In the UK, adults should have no more than 30g of “free sugars” a day – that’s sugar added to food or drinks (like syrups) and does not include natural sugar from fruit or milk.
So, a Tall PSL with whipped cream has up to 28g sugar gives you almost a full day’s worth of sugar in one go.
Want to Make Your PSL a Bit Healthier?
Skip the whipped cream (save ~5g sugar)
Ask for fewer pumps of syrup (each pump ≈ 5g sugar)
Choose almond or soya milk (lowest in sugar)
Go down a size – Short or Tall keeps things more balanced
Alternatively try the delicious Brazilian Coffee Whey Hey and add some spices 😊
How Often Is Too Often?
Having a PSL occasionally is totally fine — but if you’re having one daily or multiple times a week, the sugar adds up quickly.
Best practice.
Enjoy your PSL as a weekly treat or go for a lower-sugar version more regularly.
