We are very close to London Marathon and with this in mind you are probably paying more attention to your diet and finding the right fuel that your body will need to carry you across the finish line at the end of the gruelling 26 miles.
Being new to a race can be quite daunting. Exercise scientists at St Marys University Twickenham conducted research at last years London Marathon and where able to highlight how those that haven't frequently ran above 20 miles have a tendency to be KOd by the wall much earlier.
So with this in mind we have you covered. Two hours before the run make sure you are up and preparing some food. You need to make sure that any foods you take on are easily absorbed and will provide sufficient amounts of energy during the race. Keep sipping water up to 30 minutes before the race starts. This should allow you to process everything you have taken in and time to use the bathroom before the race, which all your frequent race goers will know is important :).
Stay clear of anything too heavy that will take longer to absorb and will leave you feeling sluggish and quite possible sick.
So with this in mind put the Vaseline down and give this quick pre race meal a try and be ready to go in no time
40g of ActiVeman Oatein
1 handful of Blueberries
1 handful of Pumpkin Seeds
2 tablespoons of Natural Yoghurt
We continue to support UK charities, and this year it is firstly Children in Crisis. Established in 1993 in the UK to give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the education they need to help transform their lives.
Secondly the British Lung Foundation. BLF have been at the forefront of fighting lung disease with £24 million being spent over the past three decades on research to increase survival rates, improve diagnosis, treatment and care, and develop our understanding of lung diseases.
On a separate note look out for ActiVeman ambassador James Cracknell who will be running the race. James is a keen runner and fitness enthusiast so we are sure he will be getting his Oatein in pre race.
To anybody taking part, best of luck. Enjoy the race and stay safe #makeithappen
