My first hurdle on the 12 Week Challenge

3 days in on Week 1 of the 12 Week Challenge  and I ripped my calf muscle whilst out on a long run.  I knew I'd done some serious damage as I stopped dead in my tracks when the muscle went 'ping'.  I then took a deep breath before I tried to hobble the mile home (partner was not answering his mobile!).  My mood plummeted as it was only Week 1 and I had another 11 to go but after physio treatment the next day I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be able to run for 4 - 6 weeks, depending on how I treated the injury. So I contacted Cengiz who immediately amended my exercise plan to incorporate swimming instead of my comfort blanket of running and I soldiered on.
Now I am coming to the end of Week 3 and my calf is getting there - I am finding that I can do more and more with it each day and managed to complete a full spinning class this morning but still NO running!  I am quite enjoying swimming but would much prefer to be outdoors running - that will come.  I just have to be realistic and patient (I'm not good at that one!).
So for all you 12 Week Challengers the moral of my tale is to stick at it no matter what obstacles are put in your way because it will be worth it in the long run (no pun intended)!!!
