Its been a while....

Since I last updated;  the 2012 season finished in mid November with an interational race on the Olympic course at the Lee Valley white water centre . Saturday was the heats race where I finished the day 17th in a field of over 60 and therefor qualified to the next day as 40 went through.  I performed two solid runs down the fast open course, I was happy with the days paddling but knew I needed to step my game up the next day. Sunday arrived with one run semifinal where again I produced a solid run, mistake free on the tight and more technical course, finishing 7th and earning a place in the 10 man final. In the final I produced one of my best runs of the season and narrowly missed out on the podium in 4th place. I was very pleased to be finishing the season with my best ever result in a British race.
Fuelled by my recent success, I started my winter training. Up until now that has been made up of many hours in the gym, continually building on my strength. I have also gone back to some basic technique work with my paddling style to try and use my strength better and more efficiently.
I am looking forward now to a few pre season races in France at the end of February before GB Team selection over two weekends in April.
