Ingredients



  • low-calorie cooking spray

  • ½ small onion

  • 100g portobello mushrooms

  • 250g extra-lean minced beef

  • 2 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried thyme)

  • black pepper


For the salad



  • 1 gem lettuce

  • 120g cherry tomatoes

  • 1/3 cucumber


Method



  1. Spray a frying pan with oil and cook the onion and mushrooms for five minutes, or until well softened. Tip into a bowl and leave to cool for five minutes.

  2. Add the beef, thyme and lots of ground black pepper. Mix well and form into two balls. Flatten into burger shapes, each around 2cm thick.

  3. Cook the burgers over a medium-low heat for 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through inside.

  4. Serve the burgers with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber.
